Growing Spiritually - Pastor John D. Fredericksen

    Pastor John  D. Fredericksen

It is kind of exciting to watch our children go through periods of growth.  Parents can usually detect it.  When growing, children’s appetites can easily double or triple.  Without being told, they often take much more time for rest or sleep.  Physically, you’ll soon notice your child’s limbs have grown longer (making it obvious it’s time to buy them new clothes—again), and their whole appearance begins to change.  What is even more thrilling is when you witness a real growth in their maturity too.

When the Apostle Paul wrote to believers in Thessalonica, he could praise them by saying, “your faith groweth exceedingly” (II Thes. 1:3).  Now, how did he know they were growing spiritually?  It was easy, because three things were evident in them.  First, he told them their “charity [or love] of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth” (II Thes. 1:3).  No growth in this area equals little or no growth at all.  Second and third, they exhibited “patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations” (II Thes. 1:4).  It takes spiritual life and growth to react positively toward negative circumstances.  But these believers were growing enough spiritually that they endured wrongs, not for doing wrong, but for the cause of Christ, and they did so without losing their cool or faith in God’s care.

The spiritual growth of these believers should come as no surprise.  They had “received the Word of God…not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the Word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe” (I Thes. 2:13).  It seems they had a real appetite for the Scriptures, regularly took time for it, and allowed the truths they were learning to transform the way they lived.

This passage should cause each of us to ask ourselves, “Am I growing spiritually?  I ought to be and need to be growing in Christ.  I’ll know for sure if I’m growing in the Lord by the presence of these three qualities exhibited in the saints at Thessalonica.  Am I growing spiritually?”

There is only way to be SAVED  1.  Corinthian 15;1 - 4  Christ died for our sins was buried and rose again the third day. Believe this from you heart and you will have eternal life.

THE WICKED ONE REVEALED John Baker

  THE WICKED ONE REVEALED
John Baker

Scripture Reading: II Thessalonians 2: 8

The first epistle to the Thessalonians was written to  remove .all anxiety concerning brethren who had died. To  remove this anxiety, Paul reviews the blessed truth of the  Rapture of the Church which is His Body. Paul writes to them  that they might no longer be ignorant of the fact that the  saints, whether dead or alive, will be caught up together to  meet the Lord in the air at His coming (I Thessalonians 4:13- 18),

Paul's second epistle was written upon his hearing of their  anxiety touching the living saints. He writes to assure them,  that in spite of what they might have heard from others, the  dreaded "day of the Lord" could not come until the saints are  gone. Only after the Church is gathered unto Christ and taken  out of this sin-cursed world will "the man of sin," the wicked  one, be revealed. Then will those who rejected the truth, along  with the wicked one, become the due objects of God's wrath.  Thus, Paul reassures the Thessalonians that they will be  separated from the scene of judgment and the revelation of  Satan and the unbelievers. .

The foremost concern is that we be not found in the  company of those "who believed not the truth." The moment  we believe the gospel-how that Christ died for our sins and  took the judgment of God for us- and put our trust in Him, we  pass from death unto life. We are saved-saved from our sins  and their penalty, saved from eternal separation from God,  and saved from the dreaded "day of the Lord." Once we have  put our trust in. the Saviour, we can have full assurance with  the Thessalonians that "God hath not appointed us to wrath,  but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ" (I  Thessalonians 5:9).

The Spirit Of Faith - by Pastor Cornelius R. Stam

The Spirit Of Faith -
by Pastor Cornelius R. Stam
It is thrilling to hear the Psalmist, though “greatly afflicted”, say: “I believed, therefore have I spoken”(Psa.116:10).
It is thrilling too, to see the Apostle Paul, though “troubled… perplexed… persecuted… cast down… alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake” — it is thrilling to see him take his stand with David and to hear him speak of having “THE SAME SPIRIT OF FAITH”, adding: “WE ALSO BELIEVE AND THEREFORE SPEAK” (IICor.4:8-13).
If only all who believe the glorious message of God’s grace: that believers in Christ are accepted in Him, pronounced “complete” and baptized into one body by one divine baptism — if all who believed these truths would speak out today, there would be a sweeping revival tomorrow in the Church, the Body of Christ. If, putting all other considerations aside, they would openly and honestly say: “WE ALSO BELIEVE AND THEREFORE SPEAK”, the results would be as refreshing as far reaching. And they should speak, for this is “the spirit of faith”.
But, alas, there are few who possess “the spirit of faith”; few who will stand, regardless of consequences, for the light God has given them. Some maintain a discreet silence because of the “fear of man”; others because they love “the praise of man”. Both say: “One must be careful what one says, for these truths are not popular”, but both alike are guilty of unfaithfulness to God and the truth.
With God’s help, let us not be among them. Let us, where the truth is concerned, stand with David and Paul and say: “WE ALSO BELIEVE AND THEREFORE SPEAK!” Let us be among those who truly possess “the spirit of faith”, who are determined to “stand fast in the faith” and ready to “fight the good fight of faith” (ICor.16:13; ITim.6:12).
There is only way to be SAVED  1.  Corinthian 15;1 - 4  Christ died for our sins was buried and rose again the third day. Believe this from you heart and you will have eternal life.

Important Recall Notice

by Anonymous

The Maker of all human beings is recalling all units manufactured, regardless of make or year, due to the serious defect in the primary and central component of the heart. This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype unit code named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units.

SALVATION PAID IN FULL By Robert E. Hanna

SALVATION  PAID IN FULL
By Robert E. Hanna

Scripture Reading: Colossians 2:13

"Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed  unto the day of redemption .... Be ye kind one to another,  tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's  sake hath forgiven you" (Ephesians 4:30, 32). "And you, being  dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath  He quickened together with Him, having forgiven you all  trespasses" (Colossians 2:13).

An old familiar hymn declares, "Jesus paid it all: all to  Him I owe." What a precious truth! There is nothing one can  do to attain salvation: it cannot be earned by works of  righteousness. "For He [God] hath made him [Christ] to be  sin for us, [He] who knew no sin; that we might be made the  righteousness of God in Him" (II Corinthians 5=21). Sadly, all  too many (both believers and nonbelievers) are laboring under  the illusion that salvation requires keeping the law of  commandments; but "ye are not under the law, but under  grace" (Romans 6:14

Grace And Debt - by Pastor Cornelius R. Stam

Grace And Debt
by Pastor Cornelius R. Stam
“Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
“But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Rom. 4:4,5).
As we look back at all the Old Testament types: the physical types, the narratives, the sacrifices, we exclaim: “The cross was not an accident, nor an afterthought on God’s part: He had it in mind all the while.” Surely Paul was right when he said of believers that “[God] hath saved us and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” (II Tim. 1:9).
It is on the basis of the cross, typified all through the Old Testament, that God now saves us by grace through faith alone, and the types show that this was indeed His eternal purpose. Furthermore salvation should be by grace through faith.
As our text, above, declares: if man could earn his salvation it would be the payment of a debt, not the bestowal of a gift — and God will never be indebted to anyone. He will never be in a position where He owes us, sinners, a debt. Nor will He ever allow us to disgrace ourselves and annoy others by our boasting about how we earned eternal life. But He can, on the basis of the penalty paid at Calvary, bestow salvation as a free gift. This is why we read:
“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ, our Lord” (Rom. 6:23).
“It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast” (Eph. 2:8,9).
God owed Abraham nothing, but seeing his faith He said, in effect: “This man believes Me; I will count his faith for righteousness” (Gen. 15:6). And this He still does for those who trust Him, only He has now revealed the basis for this action: Christ’s payment for sins at Calvary. This is why, in Romans 4:5, He forbids works for salvation and declares that the believer’s faith is “counted for righteousness.”
