SPEAKING IN CHRIST - By Robert E. Hanna

SPEAKING IN CHRIST
By Robert E. Hanna

 Read: II Corinthians 2:17

"The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit  of God: for they are foolish unto him: neither can he know  them because they are spiritually discerned ... BUT WE  HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST" (I Corinthians 2:14, 16).  We are thereby enabled to "speak in Christ". It then  becomes our own personal responsibility to faithfully  expound the truth as emissaries "in the sight of God". As  His spokesmen, we speak the words "which the Holy Ghost  teacheth comparing spiritual things with spiritual" (l  Corinthians 2:i3).

Our apostle consistently "boasts" of his ministry to the  glory of Christ. He then, just as consistently, displays deep  humility in the flesh. As members of the Church which is  Christ's Body we have inherited this mantle of  accountability. We too must unflinchingly stand for the  truth, while simultaneously claiming no personal tribute.

Paul warned his son in the faith Titus, "There are many  unruly and vain talkers and deceivers ... whose mouths must  be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things  which they ought not ... BUT SPEAK THOU THE THINGS  WHICH BECOME SOUND DOCTRINE" (Titus 1:10,11; 2:1).  And he charged Pastor Timothy, "HOLD FAST THE FORM  OF SOUND WORDS, which thou hast heard of me, in faith  and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which  was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which  dwelleth in us" (II Timothy 1:13, 14). "Though I preach the  gospel, I have nothing to glory of ... woe is unto me if I preach  not the gospel" (I Corinthians 9:16)

There is only way to be SAVED  1.  Corinthian 15;1 - 4  Christ died for our sins was buried and rose again the third day. Believe this from you heart and you will have eternal life.

THE GLORIOUS APPEARING- Robert E. Hanna

THE GLORIOUS APPEARING-
Robert E. Hanna

Scripture Reading: Titus 2:13

As members of the Church the Body of Christ, we have  the greatest eternal expectation of all the ages. While Israel  has an earthly promise, ours is a heavenly promise. "For our  conversation [citizenship] is in heaven; from whence we look  for [expect, anticipate] the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Who shall change our vile body that it may be fashioned like  unto His glorious body, according to the working whereby He  is able to subdue all things unto Himself' (Philippians 3:20-  21).

Whereas Israel will dwell in their promised earthly  kingdom in their physical bodies, we will be seated in our    heavenly abode in spiritual bodies. "Behold, I shew  you a mystery; We shall not all sleep [experience physical  death], but we shall all be changed" (I Corinthians 15:51).

Unlike His physical return to earth to establish His  prophesied kingdom, His catching us up into glory will be in  mid-air. "For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven  with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the  trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we  which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with  them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall  we ever be with the Lord" (I Thessalonians 4:16-17).

Hence, we are "looking for that blessed hope, and the  glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus  Christ: Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us  from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people."

Evolution And Sin By Pastor C. R. Stam

Evolution And Sin
By Pastor C. R. Stam

“For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now” (Rom. 8:22).
Modern evolution, of course, denies the Bible account of the fall and has much to say about “the ascent of man,” but evolution fails to account for, indeed, assiduously evades, that which lies at the very root of all man’s troubles: sin. It fails to explain adequately why man finds himself weak, poor, miserable, distressed, corrupt, perishing, and it fails to explain why he is so utterly helpless to lift himself from this state. It fails to explain his inherent sense of blameworthiness; indeed insists he has no cause for a “guilt complex.”
Every man feels within himself a disorder, a positive dislocation of things, which science — and certainly the theory of evolution — is unable to explain. Only the Bible account of the fall explains it and shows how all man’s trouble and distress arise from his own nature, which is fallen and corrupt.
“…BY ONE MAN SIN ENTERED INTO THE WORLD, AND DEATH BY SIN; AND SO DEATH PASSED UPON ALL MEN, FOR THAT ALL HAVE SINNED” (Rom. 5:12).
It is most important for the unsaved to learn this lesson; to learn that it is not merely our sins, but our sin that makes us unfit for the presence of God; not merely our deeds but our nature; not merely what we have done, but what we would do because we are essentially sinful as the children of Adam.
How profoundly grateful we should be, then, that God loves us despite our sins and our sinful natures, and that… “…God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8).
“In whom we have redemption, through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Eph. 1:7).

DISOBEDIENCE DEPLOREND - Robert E. Hanna

DISOBEDIENCE DEPLOREND
Robert E. Hanna

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 65:2-3

To the spiritually minded, it seems inconceivable that there would be any question of choice between peace and frustration; but this seems to be a timeless characteristic of humankind. God offers freedom, and man rejects in favor of bondage. Israel, God's chosen people, were the recipients of countless entreaties to become obedient to His requirements and partake in the blessings of promise. God was prompted to give vent to His displeasure. "I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts; a people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face."

even hundred years later, following Israel's rejection of their promised Messiah, Stephen delivered a scorching indictment as he spoke before the Jewish council. ''Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; ofwhomye have been now the betrayers and murderers: who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it" (Acts 7:51-53).

More of His infinite patience was graciously displayed by God before He set aside the obstinate nation Israel, but the time finally came: "Seeing ye put [the Word of God] from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, 10, we turn to the Gentiles" (Acts 13:46) ... Enter, the Dispensation of Grace!

Accepted - by Pastor Cornelius R. StamIn

Accepted
by Pastor Cornelius R. StamIn

In Ephesians 1:6 the Apostle Paul sings a doxology, as it were, “to the praise of the glory of God’s grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the Beloved”.
In the story of the Prodigal Son it is touching to see the father accept his wayward son back to his bosom — and so generously! He does not merely admit him back into his home; he clothes him with his best robe, puts a ring on his hand, shoes on his feet and kills for him the fatted calf so that they call all to “eat and be merry” in celebration of his return.
But the prodigal was after all the father’s son, whereas Paul bids us “Gentiles in the flesh” to remember that originally we were “without Christ…aliens from the commonwealth of Israel…strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world” (Eph.2:12).
Hence it is even more touching to contemplate God’s gracious acceptance of us who were not sons but “aliens” and “enemies” (Col.1:21).
The word “accepted” in the above passage actually comes from the word “grace” (Gr. karis) with which the verse begins: “…His grace, wherein He hath engraced us in the Beloved One”.
Thus God looks upon us now with delight; He delights to favor and bless the believer because He sees him in Christ, His beloved Son.
This passage reminds us how God once broke through the heavens to declare: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matt.3:17). And now He is delighted with us and blesses us with “all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies” because we are in Christ, the “Beloved Son”. Not that we have attained to this position, far from it, for “HE hath MADE us accepted” — HE hath engraced us in the Beloved.

The Great Debate! - by Pastor Ricky Kurth

The Great Debate!
by Pastor Ricky Kurth
When Paul wrote that "young women" with "husbands" and "children" are to be "keepers at home" (Titus 2:4,5), the exact meaning of that latter phrase has inspired debates among Christians of epic proportion! At the core of this discussion we usually find the issue of whether or not a mom should work outside the home. And one of the examples of Christian women in the Bible who can help answer this question is a woman the Bible describes as "virtuous," saying,
"...a virtuous woman... perceiveth that her merchandise is good... she layeth her hands to the spindle, and... the distaff..." (Proverbs 31:10,18,19).
The spindle and distaff were used in making cloth, and that word "merchandise" refers to goods that are bought and sold. That means this lady was a merchant! That agrees with how this chapter later says of her, "she maketh fine linen, and selleth it" to other merchants (v. 24).
From her example, I would suggest it is not unvirtuous for a Christian wife to work outside the home. If it be argued that she ran a home business, as opposed to working for an employer, I would invite you to consider that in those days most men were also self-employed. It was the Industrial Revolution that led men away from family-owned farms and businesses to work outside the home. So this virtuous woman was employed in the same way most men were in her day.
Over in the New Testament, we see another merchant named Lydia, "a seller of purple" (Acts 16:14). She had a "household" (v. 15), a family, as well as a business that took her and her family away from her home in Thyatira to Philippi, where she too worked outside her home.
Beloved, we didn't create the two-income society in which we live. Women in the '60s were sold a bill of goods when they were told that being a wife and mother wasn't a high enough ideal to aim at in life. But when they went to work, prices rose accordingly. When retailers saw people had more money, they charged more for their products, forcing many wives to work just to make ends meet. So as I say, we didn't create this two-income society, but we have to live in it.
And this has caused no end of unhappiness for believers and unbelievers alike. Back in the '90s I heard a radio talk show host tell how he took calls from wives in the '60s who felt trapped because they wanted to work outside the home but couldn't, for in those days jobs for women were scarce. But in the '90s he heard from women who also felt trapped, but for the oppo-site reason. They longed to be able to stay home with their children, but couldn't afford to do so.
If it is your understanding that moms shouldn't work, I have nothing but respect for your conviction. It is extremely difficult to raise a family on one income as I did, and those choosing to do so face an uphill climb. Standing firm in the face of what feminism did to us takes courage.
But whatever your conviction, it is my sincere hope that you will avoid being critical of those who are of a different persuasion. Paul says,
"Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth... Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind" (Romans 14:4,5).
All Christians belong to the Lord. He is our Master, we are His servants. So when you judge another believer, you are judging God's servant! And when you do, you should know that the Lord is on his side. How do I know? Because Paul went on to say,
"...to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand" (Romans 14:4).
This means that no matter what your personal conviction is as to the meaning of "keepers at home," God will uphold you at the Judgment Seat of Christ--that is, if you live by your conviction and don't judge others. What do you say we all determine right here and now to be grace believers in deed and not just in word, and be gracious in this sensitive area of life as well.

THE SON OF GOD- By Robert E. Hanna

 THE SON OF GOD
 By Robert E. Hanna

Scripture Reading: Matthew 3:16,17

"[Christ Jesus] made Himself of no reputation, and took  upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness  of men: and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled  Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of  the cross" (Philippians 2:7, 8). " ... John seeth Jesus coming  unto him, and saith, Behold the lamb of God, which taketh  away the sin of the world" (John 1:29). The Son of God  became true man, that He might perform the work that He  was ordained to do. He was to be the substitutionary sacrifice  for mankind, that the shedding of His innocent blood might be  the way of redemption for all that should believe.

As the Son of God, Jesus Christ explicitly honored the will  of God the Father. His mission had been clearly prophesied:  " ... He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bare the  sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors"  (Isaiah 53:12). As He agonized in prayer over the tortuous death on Calvary, He pled, "Father, if thou be willing, remove  this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine be done"  (Luke 22:42). Knowing the inevitability of His approaching  suffering, He nevertheless declared total submission, saying,  "1 have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened  till it be accomplished" (Luke 12:50). He referred to His  baptism into death by crucifixion.

"For [God] hath made Him to be sin for us. [Him] who  knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God  in Him" (II Corinthians 5:21). "In whom we have redemption  through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins" (Colossians  1:14). " ... For this purpose the Son of God was manifested ... " (I  John 3:8).

Faith In The Right Person - by Pastor Cornelius R. Stam

Faith In The  Right Person
by Pastor Cornelius R. Stam
“And the Scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And He was numbered with the transgressors” (Mark 15:28).
The progressive fulfillment of this passage from Isaiah 53 is the amazing story of our Lord’s three baptisms. First, this prophecy must be applied to our Lord’s incarnation. Born a babe at Bethlehem, He was baptized into the human race, becoming, not merely one with us, but one of us, a true human being, though still also “very God.” This is how He was first “numbered with the transgressors.”
Later the Lord was baptized again, this time with water, by John the Baptist. John’s baptism was unto “repentance for the remission of sins” and those who responded came to his baptism “confessing their sins” (Mark 1:4,5). Little wonder that John at first refused to baptize this sinless One, saying: “I have need to be baptized of Thee, and comest Thou to me?” But the Lord insisted, saying: “Thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness” (Matt. 3:13-15). Thus our Lord joined repentant sinners in baptism and was, in this practical way, “numbered with the transgressors.”
But after His baptism into the human race and His subsequent baptism with water, our Lord spoke of a third baptism, saying: “I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how am I straitened [Lit., “What a spot I am in”] till it be accomplished!” (Luke 12:50). This third baptism was, of course, His death at Calvary, where He was baptized into God’s judgment upon sin in order that He might save us from it.
Finally, then, Isaiah 53:12 was fulfilled, for it is in connection with His death at Calvary that Mark 15:27,28 says:
“And with Him they crucify two thieves; the one on His right hand, and the other on His left. And the Scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And He was numbered with the transgressors.”

Once in a Lifetime - By Charles Wages

    Once in a Lifetime
 By Charles Wages

We are told by philosophers that "history repeats itself." Is this always true? Are there no once-in-a-lifetime occurrences? Someone has aptly observed that if you put your foot in a flowing stream of water that you could never accomplish the same thing in the same water again. We often repeat the same words over and over again or tell the same funny stories or jokes. Consider what could be said of our first parent, Adam.

"Whatever troubles Adam had,
No one in days of yore;
Could say when he told a joke,
I've heard that one before."
Died Once

In great contrast to human history or human writings and speech, God accomplishes great deeds only once for His planned and promised purposes. Consider the great events and truths concerning the birth, death, and resurrection of Christ.

"For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation." (Hebrews 9:26-28)

In the passage above, the word "once" appears in each verse. In the book of Hebrews, as a whole, the word "once" appears eleven times. This gives great emphasis to the truths that are taught. The Lord Jesus Christ "appeared once in the end of the world (age) to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself" (vs. 26). It is appointed that men should die once (vs. 27). When Christ died on Calvary it was a one time dying for the sins of humanity (vs. 28). The Son of God will never die on the cross again! In Romans, chapter 6 we are told,

"For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God."

This great act of God was sufficient to save the whole world from sin. It doesn't have to be repeated! This brings us to our next point, that is, we only have to be Saved Once.

Saved once? Yes, we don't have to be saved over and over again. In Romans 6:23, it is stated,

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

In Colossians 2:10 we find our "completeness" in Christ.

"And ye are complete in him, who is the head of all principality and power."

And in John 10:28, the Lord Jesus said,

"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."

Another great "once for all time" event that God accomplishes in the life of a believer is, we are Baptized Once.

Oftentimes we come in contact with persons who tell of being "baptized" several times. Also, we hear of some being "rebaptized" when joining a different church or denomination. Also, there are several different ways to be baptized in or with water. Even if we consider our Lord, He was only baptized once in water. However, later He said to His disciples,

"But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened (pressed) till it be accomplished!"

He was referring to His "baptism" on Calvary. His once for all death for sinners!

When we consider Ephesians 4:5 which says,

"One Lord, one faith, one baptism," we should ask ourselves, what is this "one baptism?" In 1 Corinthians 12:13, we are told what it is.

"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit."

This is a once for all baptism by the Holy Spirit. This brings us to our final thought. We are, Place in the Church Once.

Again, it is commonplace for some people to join several churches in their lifetime. There might be good and justifiable reasons on their part. However, if only they could see once and for all that when they believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour, the Holy Spirit baptized them into God's one church, the Body of Christ, what a difference it would make in their life. Christ is the head of His church and we are members forever.

"And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all." (Ephesians 1:22-23

How wonderful to see that Christ died "once" for the sins of the world; that when we, as sinners, trust His finished work at Calvary, we are saved "once" and eternally; that the Holy Spirit baptizes us "once" into the Church, which is His body; and we are added to that Church "once" and forever.

Our prayer is that believers and unbelievers will read this article, not once, but twice; especially the Scriptures given. May God richly bless His Word.

"Once for all, O sinner receive it;
Once for all, O brother believe it;
Cling to the cross, the burden will fall,
Christ hath redeemed us, once for all."
