The last great book of the Bible opens with the words: “The revelation of Jesus Christ,” and from these words it derives its title: “The Revelation.” In this book St. John deals largely with the return of Christ in glory to judge and reign.

II Thes. 1:7,8 tells us that one day “the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven… in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that… obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” This is what the book of the Revelation is basically about. But this phraseology is also used in Paul’s epistles, for in Gal. 1:11,12 he says:

“I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not after man, for I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Surely this is not the same “revelation of Jesus Christ” of which John wrote. St. Paul refers not to “the revelation of Jesus Christ” in glory, but to “the revelation of Jesus Christ” in grace while He delays the judgment; not His revelation to the world in person, but His revelation to the world through Paul the chief of sinners, saved by grace. In Verses 15,16 of Gal. 1, the Apostle says: “…it pleased God… to reveal His Son in Me.” What a revelation of grace to a sin-cursed world when God saved Saul, His bitter, blaspheming enemy! He tells about it in I Tim. 1:13-16, where he says:

“[I] was a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious… Howbeit, FOR THIS CAUSE I OBTAINED MERCY, THAT IN ME FIRST JESUS CHRIST MIGHT SHOW FORTH ALL LONGSUFFERING, FOR A PATTERN TO THEM WHICH SHOULD HEREAFTER BELIEVE ON HIM TO LIFE EVERLASTING.”

This is why Paul says: “…it pleased God… to reveal His Son in Me.” By saving the chief of sinners (as Paul calls himself in I Tim. 1:15), God would show us that He is willing to save any sinner, “for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom. 10:13).

During his recent visit to the United States, the pope stirred up quite a bit of controversy when he canonized an 18th-century friar named Junipero Serra. The pontiff sought to recognize the friar for his work in bringing Catholicism to California, but there are some who claim he treated Native Americans harshly. This explains why a statue of Serra was vandalized after his elevation to sainthood was announced. As you can see, when your sainthood depends on your conduct, there will always be someone who will stand up to contest it.

How different it is with the saints mentioned in Scripture! The Corinthians were known for their carnality (I Cor. 3:1), yet Paul calls them "saints" (I Cor. 1:2). If you are wondering how this could be, it is because Paul knew that the verb form of the noun "saint" is sanctify, and while the Corinthians were carnal in their conduct, they were "sanctified in Christ Jesus" (I Cor. 1:2). In the Bible, men are "sanctified by the Holy Ghost" (Rom. 15:16), not by any earthly church. They are "sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ" (Heb. 10:10), and not by their behavior. Rome awards sainthood to men who are known for good works, but the Lord says that men are "sanctified by faith that is in Me" (Acts 26:18).

So it is that while the canonicity of all Rome's saints can be contested by men, not even the devil himself can contest the sainthood of the believer in Christ. It's no contest! Just remember, sainthood is a high calling, so make sure "that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called" (Eph. 4:1).

Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 11:26-28

From the beginning, God has offered to man a clear  choice between obedience and disobedience, reward and  punishment, faithfulness and faithlessness. As He instructed,  through Moses, the children of Israel regarding their promised  land and its acquisition through willing submission to His  stipulations, He spoke thus: "Behold, I set before you this day  a blessing and a curse; a blessing, if ye obey the  commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you  this day: and a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments  of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the way which I  command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have  not known."

Plain enough! But God adds to the clarity of His  exhortations with warnings against temptation to sin. "If  there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and  giveth thee a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder  come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go  after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us'  serve them; thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that  prophet, or that dreamer of dreams" (Deuteronomy 13:1- '  3a).'

We need not be led astray. Our safeguard is the Word of  God. If Eve had not heeded the voice ofthe tempter but had  faithfully obeyed the command of her Creator, what painful  consequences would have been avoided! Someone has said of  our society, "All we ever learn from history, is that we never  learn from history." How true is this of the man-God  relationship! But we have the answer: ''Thou wilt keep him in  perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee" (Isaiah 26:3).

The Cure For the Impure

"Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled" (Titus 1:15).

The "pure" here are people whom God has saved by His grace (Eph. 2:8,9), "purifying their hearts by faith" (Acts 15:9). In Crete, where Titus was stationed (Tit. 1:5), some "vain talkers...of the circumcision" (1:10) were telling the purified believers in Crete's churches that they would be "defiled" if they ate meats prohibited by the law of Moses (Lev. 11:43). But "we are not under the law, but under grace" (Rom. 6:15), and under grace "the kingdom of God is not meat and drink" so "all things indeed are pure" for purified believers (Rom. 14:17,20)--just as Paul told Titus (Tit. 1:15).

But "unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure," not even the meats that Moses approved under the law! If you're wondering why everything an unbeliever eats is impure, it is because everything he does is impure. You see, everything an unbeliever does is sin. When a believer plows his field, he is being obedient to God's command to work for a living, but "the plowing of the wicked, is sin" (Pr. 21:4). The "wonderful works" that unsaved men do are considered "iniquity" in God's eyes (Mt. 7:22,23), for all of their righteousnesses "are as filthy rags" (Isa. 64:6). "Even their mind and conscience is defiled" (Tit. 1:15), for "the thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD" (Pr. 15:26), because "their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity" (Isa. 59:7).

The bad news is, if your mind is defiled, you're not going to be able to trust your conscience, despite how unsaved people encourage one another to "let your conscience be your guide." Paul knew by experience that the conscience of unsaved men "is defiled" (Tit. 1:15), for before he was saved, he brutally executed God's people "in all good conscience before God" (Acts 23:1). His defiled mind was telling him that they were wrong and he was right, so his defiled conscience didn't bother him a bit!

The good news is, there is a cure for the impure! As impure as men are in the sight of God, "our Saviour Jesus Christ... gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people" (Titus 2:13,14). "Jesus Christ...loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood" (Revelation 1:5). The Corinthians were a very sinful group of people, but Paul could even write to them and say, "ye are washed...ye are sanctified...ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus" (I Cor. 6:11).

How does an impure sinner access this cleansing blood of Christ? Well, it is certainly "not by works of righteousness which we have done" (Titus 3:5). Every purified sinner knows that it was "according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration" (Titus 3:5). The word "regeneration" means the giving of "newness of life" (Romans 6:4).

If you don't care much for your present life, why not let God give you a new life? One that will begin the moment you believe that "Christ died for our sins...and...rose again" (I Corinthians 15:3,4)--everlasting life that will never see an end.
 
There is only way to be SAVED  1.  Corinthian 15;1 - 4  Christ died for our sins was buried and rose again the third day. Believe this from you heart and you will have eternal life.

Bethlehem And Calvary

“Sweet Name come down from Heav’n above,
To win our heart’s deep tender love;
As Bethlehem and Calv’ry prove:
My Jesus.”How true this old hymn is! Bethlehem and Calvary do indeed prove that the Lord Jesus Christ came from heaven to win us to himself.

St. Paul’s declaration that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (ITim.1:15) takes in both Bethlehem and Calvary. At Bethlehem Christ showed His love for man, not merely by coming to be with us, but by becoming one of us.

Luke, “the beloved physician,” wrote the famous “Gospel According to St. Luke” to show how truly man the Lord Jesus Christ was. Apart from sin,our Lord experienced all the emotions, the sorrows, the joys, the pains, the pleasures that we do. The Son of God actually became the Son of Man that the sons of men might become the sons of God.

But His life alone could not save us. His holiness would only expose our sin and condemn us. This is why the Apostle Paul declares that “Christ DIED for our sins” (ICor.15:3), and that “WE HAVE REDEMPTION THROUGH HIS BLOOD, THE FOR-GIVENESS OF SINS, ACCORDING TO THE RICHES OF HIS GRACE”(Eph.1:7).

Those who believe this and trust Christ as their personal Saviour rejoice in the truth of the above poem. Their hearts have been won to the Blessed One who came from heaven to Bethlehem and Calvary because HE loved them.

There is only way to be SAVED  1.  Corinthian 15;1 - 4  Christ died for our sins was buried and rose again the third day. Believe this from you heart and you will have eternal life.

Scripture Reading: Romans 12:16, 18

"Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and elamour,  and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice"  (Ephesians 4:31). Cogent words to the conscientious believer!  Of course, the driving force behind compliance with this  instruction, is love. "Walk in love, as Christ also hath loved  us" (Ephesians 5:2a). All our efforts inspired by human  strength are in vain unless accompanied by the indispensable  ingredient-love.

Our apostle affirms: "Though I have the gift of prophecy,  and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though  I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, AND HAVE  NOT LOVE, I am nothing" (I Corinthians 13:2). Those  characteristics which comprise the enablement of saints to  faithfully fulfill their spiritual responsibilities are the product  of the Holy Spirit. "The fruit ofthe Spirit is LOVE, joy, peace,

longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness,  temperance" (Galatians 5:22-23a). But like any fruit, it first  must be harvested before it can generate energy. It is at our  disposal, but we must be willing to make use of it to His glory.  Thus Paul urges, "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the  Spirit" (Galatians 5:25).

Our proper testimony must take two directions: (1) Our  fellowship with other believers and (2) Our association with  non-believers. Regarding the first, we are encouraged to "Be  of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high  things .... Be not wise in your own conceits." Of the second: "If  it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all  men."
