Yes, strange as it may seem in this day when money is virtually the god of multitudes, the most valuable thing in life can be had Without Money.

It may not be possible to secure food, raiment, shelter, education and transportation without money; but that which is more important and more interesting than all these is absolutely free.

Undoubtedly it will be agreed that the salvation of God is the most valuable thing in life. And, though at an infinite cost to God, that salvation has been provided as a free gift to man. This is evident from the words of the Apostle Peter to Simon: “Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money” (Acts 8:20). God regardeth not the rich more than the poor (Job 34:19).

And not only is this salvation to be had Without Money, it is also Without Price!

There may be those who will readily admit that it is impossible to purchase God’s salvation with money, but who at the same time insist that there is some sort of price to pay for it. To all such, the following Scripture should make it plain that salvation is without price: “Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24).

“Freely” here means “gratuitously,” “without a cause,” “for naught.” And “grace means “everything for nothing to one who deserves nothing but judgment.”

The Lord Jesus Christ paid the price of salvation. He “gave Himself for our sins” (Galatians 1:4). The Son of God “loved me and gave Himself for me” Galatians 2:20). Because He paid the price-His precious blood- there remains no price for us to pay. We are justified “freely” and “by His grace.” Further more, this salvation is also to be had Without Works!

Most persons have difficulty in believing that salvation is without works. They seem to be satisfied that they cannot purchase salvation in any way, but they entertain the thought that they can work for it. Let all such consider the following passages: “Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:9).

“Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Romans 4:4-5).

“Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” (Second Timothy 1:9).

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit”(Titus 3:5).

“Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith “ without the deeds of the law” (Romans 3:28).

Upon believing the Word of Truth, the Gospel of your salvation, you will receive the Holy Spirit. Possessing Him, you will be able to “be zealous of good works” (Titus 2:14). But do not imagine that this is working For salvation. Salvation is “without works”; but every person already saved, should be zealous of good works-not to be saved, but because he is saved. In addition to all this, salvation is to be had Without Waiting!

It is difficult for many to believe that salvation is to be had without waiting. They are laboring under the impression that it is necessary for them to wait until they are better or to wait for certain feelings or to wait for certain sounds and sights. They imagine that they must wait for a “more convenient season.”

Scripture: Romans 10:12; 11:32; Ephesians 2:16,17

Jew and Gentile on "the same level" is something unique to this program of Grace and to the writings of the Apostle Paul. This is not true of God's prophetic program. Nor, will you find Jew and Gentile on the same level from Genesis 12 (with the calling apart of Abraham) all the way through the book of Acts. Once you start in the book of Hebrews all the way through the book of Revelation, you will not find the Jew and the Gentile on "the same level." It's only in the thirteen books that begin with the first word "Paul" that you find this is the case.

Before we look at the later chapters in the book of Romans, let's look at the earlier ones. First God establishes the fact that the Jew and Gentile are on "the same level" as to both being lost (3:9). "For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God" (Rom. 3:22b, 23). In Romans 5, God's justification is for "the ungodly," "the sinner," and even "the enemy of God" (5:6, 8,10). In this "program of Grace" committed to the Apostle Paul, there is no difference between who is lost, and between who can be saved (Rom. 10:12; 11:32)!

As we come to Ephesians chapter 2, we are dealing with two different Divine programs, two different groups of people, and with God's New Creation, The Body of Christ. First, there is the TIME PAST (God's past program) in which the Gentiles were separate from God's chosen people, the nation of Israel (vrs. 11, 12). As Israel rejected 'The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Acts 3:13), the Gentiles stood: alienated from Israel's blessings, covenants, and promises. We were said to be without HOPE and without GOD in the world! "BUT NOW -- both Jew and Gentile are "ONE NEW MAN" in "ONE BODY" (Eph. 2:13-17)! Today, Jew and Gentile are on "THE SAME LEVEL" when it comes to: who is lost; who can be saved; and who are the members of the Body of Christ!

Communion is, and should be, a vital part of every believer's life. However, just like every aspect of God's Word and every part of our worship, it needs serious and spiritual consideration. Surely every believer would concur with this and be energized to participate and practice.

Our only true and reliable source for an understanding of this most important truth is the Word of God. Let's consider what communion really means and how it affects our lives. The word "communion" itself has a variety of meanings, yet all closely related.

First, it is interesting and very important that the same original word or root word for "communion" and "communicate" is the same in meaning (koinonia). Vine's Expository Dictionary defines it as "having in common, partnership, fellowship recognized and enjoyed. Thus, it is used of the common experience and interests of Christians." The word is used in Acts 2:42-45 where it reads,

"And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need." (Acts 2:42-45)

It is interesting and informative to note in this particular passage that the apostles had fellowship together in the apostles' teaching, and breaking of bread, and prayers. Also, we are told that many wonders and signs were done by the apostles, and then later they "had all things common; and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men as every man had need." What sweet communion or fellowship! They enjoyed one another and had fellowship in the twelve apostles' teaching, at that time, the eating of the necessary food, prayers, and performed many wonders and signs! "What a fellowship. What a joy divine."

Isn't it wonderful that believers today can have sweet communion or fellowship around the Word of God, "rightly divided" as the apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 2:15?

This brings us to communion that communicates. Consecrated or holy communion is fully realized and utilized as we share or have fellowship in telling or helping others see the "rightly divided" Word. It is almost inconceivable to think that something so wonderful, so divine, shouldn't be communicated to others, especially "others of the household of faith" (Gal. 6:10). The communicating of the Word to the unsaved is of utmost importance. Though sweet communion or fellowship cannot be had with unbelievers, yet we have the joyous privilege of sharing the gospel of God's grace with all! We are informed and admonished in Hebrews 13:16,

"But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased."

It is noteworthy to recognize that communication (koinonia) is used in conjunction with (logos) which refers to the Word! It is of great benefit to read the words of Ephesians 4:29,

"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers."

In conclusion, Consecrated or holy communion should be, and can be an ongoing day by day activity of every believer. The element that is absolutely necessary is the Word of God. We should not only partake of it ourselves, but communicate it, study it, and have sweet fellowship in the process! Remember Jeremiah of old said,

"Thy words were found and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me joy and rejoicing of mine heart; for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts." (Jer. 15:16)

(Note: We have more to eat than Jeremiah or the Apostles!)

There is much in scripture about eating. Since eating and drinking was God's mechanism for sustaining natural life, you would expect a lot of instruction concerning this "natural" function of existence. This experience would be expected to become a spiritual part of God's plan for His creation. The creation of the earth involved God's plan for His highest creation—man. How was natural life to be sustained? God provided food and water! So, eating and drinking became very important. In fact, life depended on it! However, God gave instructions and warnings such as, eat to live, and even, "eat and die."

The dietary laws that God placed upon His people Israel, after the call of Abraham in Genesis 12, become a major part of God's instructions to His "chosen" people. They were instructed what, when, where, and how to eat! This should let us see eating and drinking had a major role in God's plan for humankind.

This leads to a very pertinent question. What does all of this have to do with us today? Well, naturally, we still have to eat and drink to live.

The apostle Paul's instructions in 2 Timothy 4:4-5 are appropriate in this age of God's grace.

"For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer."

In God's dealings with the Church, the Body of Christ, today, (not Israel, naturally or spiritually), there are no "religious" requirements concerning food in our worship and relationship to and of the Lord. Various religious groups have imposed traditional sacraments and rites to and in their practices of worship concerning "eating and drinking."

These are declared and defended on the basis of "customs and traditions" of men, not on the Word of God, rightly divided.

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth." (2 Tim. 2:15)

When the Lord Jesus was preparing to leave this earth, He told his disciples to prepare for the last supper, or the Passover. The instructions as to this supper were explicit as to where, when, and what they were to eat. These passages are found in Matthew 26:17-29; Mark 14:12-16; and Luke 22:7-13. The significance of this time and purpose of eating was of extreme importance to His people, Israel, and the apostles. The "Passover" involved eating and was the "last supper" the Lord would observe "until that day that I drink it new in the Kingdom of God" (Mark 14:25).

The great and important question for all believers today could be: "Are we to not eat and drink of and with the Lord today? If so, when, what, and how are we to commune and eat with our Lord? The use of the word "sup" and "supper" used in the Word refers to the chief meal of the day and is given special emphasis in John 13:1-4 that tells us of the "feast of the Passover."

In verse 2 of this chapter, we read, "And supper being ended," and in verse 4 we read, "He riseth from supper." The feast of the Passover was also called "supper," and satisfied God's great plan for Jesus' earthly ministry. Later, Jesus washed the disciple's feet! The "cleaned" disciples could then go forth and do their earthly ministry for their Lord. This was truly a "satisfying supper." It is interesting and informative to think of another "supper" that will introduce God's literal kingdom on earth. It is called "the marriage supper of the Lamb." We need to understand when this will be, who is invited, what will be served, and for what purpose? It will certainly fulfill God's great plan for the ages in His dealings with His people, Israel, and the nations.

No doubt, the most informative, yet difficult meal to understand is found in John, chapter six, the beautiful account of our Lord feeding five thousand souls. How familiar! However, this chapter contains some of the most mystifying truths concerning eating found in scripture. The feeding of the people brought a ready response from the Jewish people who observed. They said, "Our fathers did eat manna from heaven." Jesus said unto them, "Moses gave you that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven" (John 6:32). Then, later in John 6:50, our Lord said,

"This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof and not die."

The Lord Jesus is that bread! We partake of Him, when we partake of the Word of God! God's Word is often spoken of as food, such as meat, milk, and bread. In Hebrews 5:11-14 we are admonished and instructed that we shouldn't be as "babes" but we should be of "full age" and "exercise our senses" to discern both good and evil."

The lesson is obvious. We need the proper food in order to grow, be healthy, and serve our Lord. Symbols of food do not satisfy. They only confuse us and leave us hungry. A real "happy meal" is one that consists of reading and studying the "bread from heaven," the Word of God. This is the only meal we need to live and serve. How beautiful and significant are the words in Revelation 3:20.

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."

The real, "satisfying supper" is not a symbol, but the reality of partaking of God's Word. Let us remember the admonition of the Apostle Paul in Colossians 2:16-17:

"Let no man therefore judge you in meat or drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days; which are a shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ."

And, let us remember those most beautiful and inspirational words of Jeremiah 15:16,

"Thy words were found and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts."

Many times we have noticed various church bulletin boards, and have often wondered as to the source of the "words of wisdom" displayed on them. Most of the sayings displayed must have been taken from the almanac, for very few of them come from the Bible. One thing may be said in their favor; though often senseless, they are usually harmless as well. However, just recently, we were astounded to notice the following on the bulletin board in front of a large denominational church. It said: "Jesus Christ should be followed, not worshipped."

Surely we are living in days of apostasy when a man who calls himself a minister of the gospel would have the brazenness to put such a statement in front of a church which pretends to bear the Name of Christ.

How can we follow Christ, unless we can worship Him as well? If the Lord Jesus Christ was not the Eternal Son of the Living God, then He was a deceiver of the basest sort, and is neither to be followed nor worshipped. If He was God manifest in the flesh, as He claimed to be, then He certainly is to be worshipped as well as followed, and like Thomas, we should prostrate ourselves at His feet and say, "My Lord and my God." We need not speculate, though, as to whether He was or was not the God-Man. Hear the testimony of the Father Himself, who testified from heaven, saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him." We read also, "That all me should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father which hath sent Him" (John 5:23). Is God the Father worthy of our worship? Then so is God the Son.

The cry of these so-called Modernists, who are no more than Christianized agnostics, is "Back to Jesus," and it is sad to relate that many Fundamentalists seem to be echoing the cry of these infidel preachers. God's program is not back to Jesus, but on to the Mystery. We are not to follow Jesus as a minister of the circumcision in the land of the Jews, but we are to be occupied with Him as He NOW is, seated at the Father's right hand in the heavenlies, and made to be Head over all things to the Church, which is His body.

The statement is often made that we should follow the Lord in baptism. If this is so, we ought also to follow the Lord in circumcision (Luke 2:21). We ought to follow Him into the synagogue on the Sabbath day (Luke 4:16). We ought to follow Him as one under the Law, obeying them that sit in Moses' seat (Gal. 4:4 and Matt. 23:1-3). We ought to follow Him and proclaim the kingdom at hand (Matt. 4:17; 9:35; 10:7). We should heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, and raise the dead (Matt. 10:8). If anyone sues us, we should not contest the suit, but should give them even more than they demand (Matt. 5:40). If one would borrow from us, we should not deny their request, but should lend to them without expecting to be repaid (Matt. 5:42; Luke 6:34,35). If we are going to follow Jesus of Nazareth we should do all these things, for Jesus Himself taught and practiced them.

While on earth, "Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers" (Rom. 15:8). He was a Jew among the Jews, confining His ministry to the nation Israel, and announcing Himself as their King. Israel having rejected Him, He went back to glory, and when Israel continued in their rejection, He revealed through the Apostle Paul His new program for this dispensation of the grace of God, so that now we do not follow Him in His humility, as the Messiah of Israel, but we follow Him as the glorified One at God's right hand, and the Head of the Body.

The Apostle Paul, though whom the truth for this age has been revealed, never once in any of his inspired writings refers to anything that Jesus said or did while he was upon earth. In fact, we read, "Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh; yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we Him no more" (2 Cor. 5:16).

As we follow Christ today, we must obey 1 Corinthians 11:1: "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ." Thus, as we follow the Risen, Ascended Christ in Glory according to the Blessed Son of God, "Our Lord Jesus Christ, which in His time He shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords" (1 Tim. 6:15).

1. ETERNAL LIFE IS ETERNAL! John 3:15, 10:28, Romans 6:23, First John 2:25, 5:11, 5:13, etc.;  By definition eternal means never ending. Once a believer has eternal life it can never be taken away. If it could be it would not be eternal!

2. EVERLASTING LIFE IS EVERLASTING! Daniel 12:2; John 3:16, 3:36, 5:24, 6:40, 6:47; Romans 6:22; etc.; Likewise, everlasting life can never end.  It is everlasting regardless of the believer’s behavior.

3. IT IS GOD’S WILL! John 6:39; It is God’s will that Christ lose none of those who come to Him.

4. HEAVEN IS RESERVED FOR HIM! First Peter 1:4; An inheritance in heaven is reserved for the believer.

5. SALVATION (INHERITANCE) IS INCORRUPTIBLE! First Peter 1:4;  No one can corrupt something God has made incorruptible.

6. SALVATION (INHERITANCE) CANNOT BE DEFILED! First Peter 1:4; No one can defile something which God says cannot be defiled.

7. HE IS SEALED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT! Ephesians 1:13; No power in Heaven or earth can break God’s seal.

8. HE IS SEALED UNTO THE DAY OF REDEMPTION! 
Ephesians 4:30; The believer is sealed until the day God redeems his body.

43. HE IS KEPT FROM FALLING BY CHRIST! Jude 24; A Christian cannot fall from grace because Christ is keeping him.

44. SALVATION IS A FREE GIFT! Romans 6:23; A free gift is given with no conditions.

45. HE HAS IMPUTED RIGHTEOUSNESS! Romans 4:6-7; The righteousness the saint has is Christ’s perfect righteousness.

46. HE IS A PART OF CHRIST! Ephesians 5:30; Every believer is a part of Christ’s body. “Bone of His bone....”

47. CHRIST IS THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF HIS SALVATION! Hebrews 12:2; Christ began and will finish his salvation.

48. HE HAS BEEN PREDESTINATED TO BE CONFORMED TO CHRIST’S IMAGE! Romans 8:29; After salvation the believer is predestinated.

The name God of Peace is used three times in the New Testament Scriptures: Romans 16:20, Philippians 4:9, and Hebrews 13:20. This name stands in contrast to God as He revealed Himself to Israel in the Old Testament. There He is many times called the Lord of Hosts. This is a warriors name. He is the Lord of the fighting armies and over and over again He fought on behalf of His people.

This name stands also in vivid contrast to the worlds past, which has known little of peace. From the very beginning of mans history upon the earth, even until the present moment, it has been a continued story of nation being pitted against nation and kingdom against kingdom. Strong nations and mighty empires have appeared upon the scene, flourished for a season, and then vanished away. They have fallen by two causes: (1) an inner decay of pride, envy, greed and lust, and (2) a strong enemy from without that warred against them and won.

As one reviews the worlds past history, as well as the present, when our armies are at war in Iraq, the Israelis and Palestinians killing each other, and the terrorists doing their dastardly work everywhere, the question arises: Shall this condition continue always, with nations rising, shining, sinning, sinking? It is then the name God of Peace comes to mind as the prophecy of a better day. God wants peace and in His own day and way He shall bring peace to the world.

Back in the days of the now defunct League of Nations, when many were congratulating themselves on the fact they had outlawed war, it was my privilege as a young man to speak in a certain denominational church. The subject assigned was World Peace. I was brash enough to tell them that in spite of mans rosy dreams and schemes, there would be no real peace until the Prince of Peace returned to rule and reign. At the close the pastor publicly took me to task, asserting that it was the duty of Christians to work for peace and brotherhood among men. He said: We pray Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven and when we thus pray we are praying for peace on earth. Later I called his attention to the three words just prior to the words he had just quoted. Those three words are: Thy kingdom come! Thank God, that kingdom is coming! Then Gods will shall be done in earth, and not before. Then the God of Peace shall send the Prince of Peace and He will usher in an era of universal tranquility. Then men shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks, and they shall learn war no more.

The blessed name God of Peace stands also in contrast to Satan, who is the real god of war. For six thousand years this arch-criminal has instigated war and strife among the nations. Satan wants war and God wants peace, but the question of who shall win is never in doubt. It may seem that Satan is having his way but he has nigh well run his malevolent course. Listen to what the apostle says in Romans 16:20, And the God of Peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The God of Peace shall bring war against Satan, and then Satan will be shut up and sealed under lock and key, so that he can no longer deceive and seduce the nations of the world. Israel and the nations will then enjoy peace, when Satan is imprisoned and Christ enthroned.

Meanwhile, the believer may enjoy peace even in a world where there is no peace. The God of Peace sent His Son to die on Calvary and He made peace by the blood of His Cross. Then we read in Hebrews 13:20 that the God of Peace brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus. Christ Himself becomes the believers peace. Then as we entrust our all to Him we have the Peace of God which passeth all understanding garrisoning our hearts and minds. And. too, we have the blessed promise: And the God of Peace shall be with you.

Victory is ours

when in the Savior we abide

we can claim His every promise,

as in His great love, we hide.

Walking in victory

is a blessing for God's own,

He will walk beside us,

until the day, He calls us home.

There is no trial too great

or problem God cannot solve,

In the Blessed Savior,

our whole life should revolve.

So hold on to every promise

and walk daily in the light of His love,

You'll be blessed abundantly,

by heaven's holy Dove.
