What
in the World (April – June 2018)
by Les Feldick
We
receive so many calls and letters that begin with “… my preacher says this” or
“… my denomination teaches that” when it comes to the pre-tribulation rapture
of the church. Let’s not get carried away with opinions from a lot of
preachers. Instead, let’s just see what the Book says, our Apostle in
particular.
2
Timothy 3:1-51This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural
affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of
those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more
than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof:
from such turn away.
Look
at this portion carefully. Although it does describe a carnal world, there is
not one word of the death and destruction we read about in Revelation. Not a
word of what we normally expect about the tribulation horrors of those seven
years. And why wouldn’t Paul mention these terrible events? Because we will be
out of here! A close study of those five verses will show the reader that we
are getting close. The moral and spiritual breakdown, even in one of the last
nations claiming a Biblical foundation, is evident everywhere we turn. I
believe that verse 5 is the most telling of all. Every day we get letters from
folks who have had to leave their church of 20, 30, or 40 years because of
liberal theology. And what is liberal theology? It is anything that ignores
Paul’s Gospel for catch-phrases such as “believe in Jesus”, “take Him into your
heart”, or “take Jesus as your savior”. Now compare this with Paul’s Gospel, 1
Corinthians 15:1 – 4 plus Romans 1:16. Read the following verses carefully and
pay attention to what Paul states, as well as what he does not say.
1
Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I
preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By
which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless
ye have believed in vain.3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I
also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the
scriptures: Romans 1:16 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it
is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew
first, and also to the Greek.
We
are in Easter season. According to Paul, the resurrection is just as much a
part of our Gospel as the crucifixion. I Corinthians 15:17 And if Christ be not
raised, your faith is vain (worthless); ye are yet in your sins.
If
the trumpet sounds today, are you ready? Are you truly resting in Paul’s
Gospel?
Romans
2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ
according to my gospel.
I
Timothy 3:15-16 15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest
to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God,
the pillar and ground of the truth. 16 And without controversy great is the
mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,
seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received
up into glory.
