LEGACY OF LIES - By Robert E. Hanna

  LEGACY OF LIES
By Robert E. Hanna

The Lord Jesus Christ spoke of Satan thus: "He was a  murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth,  because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he  speaketh of his own: For he is a liar, and the father of it"  (John 8:44b). And of Himself He said, "I am the way, THE  TRUTH, and the life" (John 14:6). The Apostle Paul writes in  his epistle to Titus, "In hope of eternal life, which GOD, WHO  CANNOT LIE, promised before the world began" (Titus 1:2).  The truth versus the lie: God versus Satan.

If we are desirous of maintaining a pure relationship with  God, the last thing in the world to be considered is lying to  Him. In the list of seven things that are an abomination to  God, (see Proverbs 6:16-19), the second is "a lying tongue."  Under the economy of the Pentecostal church, "The multitude  of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul:  neither said any of them that ought of the things which he  possessed was his own; but they had all things com-  mon .... Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as  many as were possessors of lands or houses, sold them, and  brought the prices of the things that were sold, and laid them  down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto  every man according as he had need" (Acts 4:32, 34,35) .

. This beautiful circle of unity was broken when two  members held back a portion of their receipts and   the offense with a lie. "Peter said, Ananias,  WHY HATH SATAN FILLED THINE HEART TO LIE TO  THE HOLY GHOST, and to keep back part of the price of the  land?" (Acts 5:3). "He that speaketh lies!"
